Are you wandering through the desert landscapes of this world seeking meaning and purpose for your life? Only to find the next billabong is bitter and the sun painfully hot. Then, at last, you discover that thirst-quenching water hole, but sadly it’s a mirage.

What now? Something deep within you refuses to give up. That refuge must be out there somewhere. Maybe a song, a friend, a book, or a movie will save you from the wilderness of life. So you lift up your battle-weary spirit one more time…and stumble.

This pictures life without God, the supreme designer of your very being. He made you in His image and loves you. But you are cut off from Him, incomplete, and lack the deepest answers to life.

How did this happen to you, and the rest of us? The answer is found in the “true history of the world”—the Holy Bible, God’s inspired word. You see, since the beginning of time, God’s arch enemy Satan has deceived us through his tempting ways. And our disobedience has cut us off permanently from the lover of our soul.

Our independence from God is called sin and is effectively rebellion against the King of the universe. We inherited this spiritual brokenness and are powerless to break it, no matter how hard we try. Now alone, we’re left to wander aimlessly through the howling wilderness of this world. Is there anyone we can trust with our soul in this harsh unforgiving place?

Yes, thankfully. Soon after this disaster hit humanity, God promised to send a hero—a champion. He would defeat the evil one who had robbed humanity from the wonder of God’s love. This deliverer was His very own son Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.

Jesus fulfilled the law of God, and maintained an unbroken sinless connection to His heavenly Father. He willingly offered up His perfect life as a sacrifice for sin. Because without the shedding of blood, God could not forgive our sin. Once and for all, His sacrificial death paid the price for our rebellion.

And three days later, having power over death, Jesus was raised from the dead. When we choose to believe He died for our sin, God forgives all our sin and gives us a new life, eternally. Our choice to believe is called faith, and our new life is called being born again.

Do you want a new life? Call upon Jesus who has done everything to restore the beautiful life that you were made to enjoy. Ask Him to forgive your sin and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Then accept the truth that you are now a new “creation”—the old person has gone and the new has truly come. If you’ve done that, congratulations! You’re born again and have begun your new life in Christ.

This is exciting! God is truly wonderful and loves you deeply. Now you need to share your decision with others. God has adopted you into His family and you now have a whole heap of brothers and sisters, forever. Please let us know or tell another believer about the wonderful decision you’ve made.

Now you need to mature and grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ. You can do this by joining a local church that believes the word of God is true, real, and contemporary.

If you live in Perth, Western Australia, we would love to have you come to our services in Ocean Reef. We meet on Sunday mornings at 10am in the Beaumaris Community Hall, 66 Constellation Drive.

If you live far away, ask the Lord to guide you to a church where the Spirit is at work. A place you can put down roots and offer your life in service to Christ for all He has done for you.

May God guide you as you seek him.
